News from your MP – Happy New Year

Happy New Year! 2025 was a busy year: supporting constituents, representing you in Parliament, working on the issues that matter most to you, and so much more.

Read all about it alongside my plans for the year ahead.

My 2025 Wrap Up

2025 was a year of hard work and real progress for Norwich. Thank you to everyone who got in touch with me, attended my events, shared your work with me, or welcomed me at your business or organisation.

Over 2025, the Government has also been delivering nationally, and for Norwich North, including 5 million more NHS appointments nationally, free breakfast clubs, money for social housing and the redevelopment of Anglia Square.

The Year Ahead

Over the next year I’ll keep focusing on the issues that matter to you: fixing our NHS and public services, including tackling the dental crisis, action to address the cost of living and securing the investment and opportunity that we need in Norwich North and Norfolk. That will mean a real focus on children and young people, including action to fix the SEND crisis.

Pride in Place is a brilliant example of investing in our community, with £20 million secured for Heartsease and Pilling Park over the next 10 years – if you live in the area, fill out my survey and have your say on how that money should be spent!

Road Conditions at White House Farm Estate

Recent weather and road conditions have shown just how urgent the need for road adoption at White House Farm Estate is. Residents have been in touch with me about the dangerous road conditions on Atlantic Avenue and around the estate – that is why I am repeating my call for the developers and Norfolk County Council to sort this out as a priority.

If you haven’t already, please sign my petition below and help urge Norfolk County Council to adopt these roads as a matter of urgency, and ensure the safety of children, residents, and the local community.

Last month

During December I…

  • Visited and promoted some small businesses around the constituency
  • Thanked the Norwich Royal Mail Delivery team for all of their hard work
  • Welcomed the National Youth Strategy. I spoke on the news about the the positive impact it will have on young people
  • Welcomed the Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy, where I spoke about the great work taking place in the constituency to tackle this.

I also want to thank all the organisations and businesses that welcomed me over the month, and shared their work with me.

Transport

Rail fares have been frozen for the first time in 30 years, and bus fares capped at £3 — real help for people who rely on public transport every day.

In December, I also welcomed the Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, on his visit to Norwich. He announced £46m of government funding for bus transport in Norfolk, with the money going towards improving bus services and buying new electric vehicles, and heard directly from local people about the need for more reliable, affordable local transport. I’ll keep pushing for improvements that make a difference to daily life.
