My Christmas Message and Update

A Merry Christmas message and an update on what I’ve been doing for the constituency in December.

In the constituency…

In the last month, I have been busy in the constituency, working on issues important to you, including:

SEND PROVISION – I visited The PLACE at Arden Grove- a Specialist Resource Base in Norwich providing support to children with emotional and mental health needs.

BUSINESS – I held my first small business roundtable, inviting a cross-section of businesses in Norwich North to share their thoughts and concerns with me.

SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY – I visited three local businesses in Norwich North; the Norwich Glass Company, Cafe 193 and Great Eastern Model Railways to speak to them about issues important to them.

INNOVATION – I toured Norwich Research Park with researchers and experts. This is such an amazing asset to Norwich, doing phenomenal research and providing jobs for people in our region and beyond.

Casework Breakdown

This month my office received 261 pieces of new casework and engaged in helping everyone who has been in touch – closing 363 cases from the months previous.

In Parliament…

I have been representing Norwich North in the House of Commons on a range of issues important to my constituents, including:

Speaking during the Government’s announcement on devolution, to make sure that Norfolk is part of the priorities for new local government and to place our city at the heart of decision-making.

Asking the Secretary for Business and Trade to ensure mutual and co-operative businesses in our area are included in support for SMEs.

Speaking in the Westminster Hall Debate on dentistry in the East of England and welcoming the new £1.5m of funding from the Norwich Growth Board for a Dentistry School at the UEA.

Raising the extension of Pupil Premium Plus support for kinship carers who care for family and friends in Norwich.
