One year as your MP
It’s been one year since my election as your MP for Norwich North, and what a busy year it’s been…
I’ve worked hard in parliament, championing our fine city and great county, urging action on the issues that matter to you – from tackling the cost of living, to addressing the climate and nature crises. Locally, I’ve listened and fought for local change too – like saving our NHS walk-in centre and resolving thousands of cases for local people.
I have also been visiting local organisations, businesses and meeting as many of you as possible. This month’s newsletter will give you an insight into some of the work I’ve done so far, but there’s always more to be done.
Remember I run regular coffee mornings and surgeries, and you can always get in touch with my office with any issues you may be experiencing.
I’m proud to be your MP, and of everything we have accomplished this far. Thank you for an amazing first year.
My Summer Listening Survey
It’s the summer and I’ve just launched my summer listening survey! Fill it out to help me stay up to date with your priorities both locally and nationally and tell me what you want me to be working on as your MP.

Better Health
Norfolk is a dental desert – this must change. I’ve been speaking out on this and pushing the Government for action. So far, we’ve brought in over 21,000 extra dental appointments and I continue to press for the opening of a Dental School in Norwich.
We’ve also saved our Walk-In Centre again, secured funding to upgrade GP surgeries and hospitals, and I continue to speak out on women’s health.

Better Homes
We need more affordable, good homes. I am proud that Norwich City Council has secured £34 million in Government funding to unlock Anglia square. This will deliver hundreds of affordable new homes and hundreds of jobs. I’ve welcomed the reforms introduced to protect renters, like ending no-fault evictions.
I’ll also continue to keep raising the need for proper community infrastructure for new housing developments and continue to push for building new homes sustainably.

More Opportunity
From free breakfast clubs and more nursery places to extra funding for SEND and mental health support – I’ve been advocating for more opportunities for children and young people in our community.
I want to see more good jobs in Norwich including green jobs. I’ve been speaking out about what Norwich North has to offer, including aviation innovation at Norwich airport.

Casework
This year, my office handled 5,500+ cases for local people. Thank you to everyone that’s been in touch to share your views, your thoughts, or to get support with any issue you may be experiencing.
Please remember to email alice.macdonald.mp@parliament.uk or call 01603 733182 if you require any support with issues you may be facing – my office is there to help!
Out and about in our community
I’m proud to represent all of Norwich North – from Drayton, Sprowston, Hellesdon, Thorpe St Andrew, and Old Catton; to Sewell, Catton Grove, Crome, and Mile Cross.
I’ve been out and about in the constituency all year round, listening to what you love about your local area, what needs improving, and what action you want to see from me as your Member of Parliament. Over the last year I’ve visited more than 55 local organisations, businesses, charities, and schools!
I’ve also been holding regular coffee mornings, surgeries, and forums and consultations – keep an eye out for more events taking place in the year ahead.
