My January Newsletter An update for all of the constituents of Norwich North on my work recently as your voice in Parliament and in the constituency. |
In the constituency… In the last few weeks, I have been busy in the constituency, working on issues important to you, including: Help and Advice Surgeries – I held my first help and advice surgery of 2025 this month, helping several constituents with housing and health issues. You can book an appointment via 01603 733182 or alice.macdonald.mp@parliament.uk. Anglia Square – After months of campaigning, it has been announced this month that the government has awarded Labour-run Norwich City Council an additional £19m to unlock the regeneration of Anglia Square and provide more affordable housing and jobs for our city. Silver Birch Court leak – After being made aware of a leak leaving Silver Birch Court in Mile Cross without heating and hot water, I worked with the council to ensure residents affected were offered compensation and alternative accommodation. Youth Opportunity Roundtable – I bought together local organisations and young people to discuss how to break down barriers to opportunity and identify areas for collaboration. Dibden Street Fire – After the fire that destroyed much of the Old Shoe Factory on Dibden Road this month, I visited the site with the amazing Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service and local Councillor Julie Brociek-Coulton to discuss next steps and safety concerns. |

Casework Breakdown |
In January, my office received 610 pieces of new casework and engaged in helping everyone who has been in touch – closing 424 cases from the months previous. The highest portions of casework this month were health services and our NHS, as well as energy, utilities and our environment. That is why I am holding a public meeting on the NHS on the 8th February, to inform the future of our health service. More details below… |
In Parliament… |
I have been representing Norwich North in the House of Commons on a range of issues important to my constituents, including: Creative Industries – During a debate on the creative industries, I championed the great centres of inspiration in our city and asked for our city to be recognised as the city of innovation and creativity that we are. School Buildings – I met with the Minister for Early Education to discuss the state of school buildings in Norwich and how we can alter guidance to make sure that they are properly inspected and maintained Climate and Nature – I spoke in the House of Commons about the climate and nature risks facing our county and underlined the critical need for further joined up action on these twin crises. Armed Forces Commissioner – I voted in the House for the establishment of an independent Armed Forces Commissioner to champion service personnel and their families. |
